1 General Information

AGS is a transformative platform where adolescent girls from diverse backgrounds, identities, and abilities connect, share their stories, build solidarity, and amplify their voices to advocate for their rights and challenge harmful gender norms. It's a space for learning, leadership development, and collective action for gender justice across Africa.

AGS 2026 will take place from March 31 - April 3, 2026 in Yamoussokro, Côte d'Ivoire.

The summit will bring together 250+ young leaders from 13+ African countries for four days of intensive workshops, networking, and collaborative action planning.

The theme for AGS 2026 is "Count Us In: African Adolescents Co-Creating Solutions to Advance Gender Justice and Rights."

This theme emphasizes the critical role of young people as partners and leaders in creating lasting change for gender equality across the continent.

AGS is Global Fund for Children's flagship adolescent-led initiative, organized in partnership with local youth organizations, international NGOs, government agencies, and private sector institutions committed to advancing girls' rights and gender justice.

2 Application Process

Youth/Adolescent Participants (10-25 years):

Adolescents: 10-19 years old
Youth: 20-25 years old
Must be affiliated with a partner organization
Must have appropriate sponsorship support
Parental consent required for participants under 18

Other participant categories welcome:

Adult Partners (mentors, advocates, supporters)
Funders/Sponsors/International Organizations
Government Agencies
Private Sector Institutions

Application Timeline:

Note: Late applications will not be considered. Apply early!

All applicants will receive an email notification regarding their application status by March 7, 2026. Selected participants must confirm their attendance by March 14, 2026 to secure their spot.

3 Participation & Program

No, AGS 2026 is fully sponsored. Selected participants will receive accommodation, meals, local transportation, and program materials free of charge. International travel support may be available for qualifying participants through partner organizations.

AGS 2026 will feature:

Interactive workshops on leadership and advocacy
Panel discussions with inspiring role models
Collaborative sessions to develop action plans
Networking opportunities with peers across Africa
Skills-building sessions on digital advocacy
Cultural exchange and celebration activities
Mentorship matching and guidance

The primary languages will be English and French, with simultaneous interpretation provided for major sessions. We will also accommodate other African languages as needed and provide translation support to ensure all participants can fully engage.

Post-summit support includes:

Access to the AGS alumni network
Ongoing mentorship and guidance
Small grants for implementing action plans
Digital platform for continued collaboration
Follow-up workshops and virtual sessions
Opportunities to participate in future AGS events

4 Logistics & Travel

International participants typically fly into:

Félix-Houphouët-Boigny Airport (ABJ) in Abidjan (main international airport)
Ground transportation will be provided from Abidjan to Yamoussokro (approx. 3-hour drive)

Selected participants will receive detailed travel instructions and may be eligible for travel support through partner organizations.

Required documents:

Valid passport (must be valid for at least 6 months)
Visa (if required - check with Ivorian embassy)
Proof of yellow fever vaccination
Travel insurance (strongly recommended)
Parental consent letter for participants under 18

Note: Visa requirements vary by country. Selected participants will receive guidance on visa applications.

Accommodation:

Shared hotel rooms (2-3 participants per room)
Safe, comfortable accommodations near the venue
Separate accommodation for adults and minors

Meals:

All meals provided (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks)
Accommodation for dietary restrictions and allergies
Mix of local Ivorian cuisine and international options
